HiLux Owners Are Already Lining Up for an Exhaust That Isn't Out Yet
Manta's new 4in HiLux exhaust range hasn't launched yet, but the waitlist already has. Five configurations are coming for the HiLux N80 and N90, from a quiet DPF Back upgrade to a fully open Turbo Back system, and registering now is the only way to hear about pricing, stock and release date first.
We don't normally write a post about something that isn't for sale yet. But enough of you have asked directly, in-store, on the phone, through the contact form, that it's worth explaining properly instead of posting another teaser.
What's actually coming in the new Manta HiLux range?
Five separate configurations, built for the HiLux N80 and N90 fitted with the 2.8L or 2.4L Turbo Diesel D4D engine, including the 48V mild-hybrid variants.
- 4in DPF Back, no muffler. Keeps the factory DPF. Rated Quiet.
- 4in Turbo Back with Hi-Flow Cat and muffler. Rated Medium.
- 4in Turbo Back with Hi-Flow Cat, WOM. Rated Loud.
- 4in Turbo Back without cat, with muffler. Rated Medium.
- 4in Turbo Back without cat, WOM. Rated Loud.
Every system is 4-inch, mandrel-bent, stainless steel. That part isn't new for Manta. What's new is having a genuine entry point for HiLux owners who just want a better note, not a full Turbo Back rebuild.
Pricing across the range runs from just under $2,700 to just under $4,800 inc. GST, depending on configuration.
Why are people registering before it's even released?
Honestly, we're a bit surprised ourselves at how fast the list is growing.
Some of it is timing. HiLux is one of the most modified utes in the country, and a proper 4in range from an Australian manufacturer has been a gap for a while.
Some of it is trust. Owners who already run a Manta system on another vehicle know roughly what they're getting, and they'd rather not be last through the door when stock lands.
There's a practical reason too. First-run stock on a new range is always tighter than the second and third batches. Registering doesn't cost anything. It just means you hear about availability before it's posted publicly.
Does a WOM exhaust always mean it's loud?
No, and this range is a good example of why.
WOM means without muffler. On its own, that tells you almost nothing about how loud the finished system actually is.
The DPF Back configuration is a WOM setup, and it's rated Quiet. The factory DPF stays in place, and it does a lot of the acoustic work a muffler would otherwise do.
Strip that same muffler off a full Turbo Back system, further from the engine with far less standing in the way of the sound, and you get the Loud rating instead.
Same idea. Two completely different outcomes. It comes down to what else is in the system, not just whether a muffler is bolted on.
Picture this. Someone rings the counter asking whether the "no muffler" version is going to be too much for the school run. Depends which one, we tell them. One WOM configuration in this range is our quietest option. The other is our loudest.
Is the new Turbo Back range road legal?
This is where we want to be careful, because it isn't a yes-or-no answer.
Road legality for any exhaust modification depends on your intended use, your state or territory's current emissions requirements, and whether removal or alteration of factory emissions equipment is permitted for your specific vehicle and application. Requirements differ between states, and they can change.
The DPF Back configuration retains the factory DPF. For the four Turbo Back configurations, we're not making a blanket claim that every build is road legal in every jurisdiction.
Responsibility for confirming compliance sits with the installer and the vehicle owner before fitment, not with a marketing page. If road use matters to you, talk to your installer or dealer about which configuration suits your state's rules before you register a preference.
How do you get on the list first?
Registering takes a minute, and it's the only channel we're using to notify people ahead of public release. You'll hear about final pricing, confirmed stock dates and which configuration lands first, before it's posted anywhere else.
The list is growing before we've even launched
Register now and we'll email you the moment the new HiLux range goes live, ahead of general release, along with confirmed pricing and stock.
Register Your InterestFrequently asked questions
When will the Manta HiLux 4in exhaust range be released?
An exact release date hasn't been confirmed yet. The fastest way to find out is registering your interest, since that list gets notified before the range goes live publicly.
How do I register my interest in the new HiLux range?
Fill in the short form on our HiLux updates page. There's no cost or obligation. You'll be notified about pricing, configuration availability and stock as soon as the range is confirmed for release.
Does a WOM exhaust always mean a loud exhaust?
No. WOM simply means without muffler. The DPF Back configuration is a WOM setup and is rated Quiet, because the factory DPF still does most of the acoustic work. Loudness depends on the whole system, not just the muffler.
Will the new Turbo Back systems be road legal?
Legality depends on your state or territory's emissions rules and your specific vehicle. We don't claim every Turbo Back configuration is road legal in every state. Confirm compliance with your installer before fitting one.
Which HiLux models will the new range fit?
The range is built for the HiLux N80 and N90 with the 2.8L or 2.4L Turbo Diesel D4D engine, including DPF-equipped and 48V mild-hybrid-compatible variants, Ute body style. Always confirm your exact vehicle and application before ordering.
What's the difference between DPF Back and Turbo Back?
DPF Back is a simpler upgrade that starts after the factory DPF and is the quietest option in the range. Turbo Back replaces everything from the turbo outlet back, with more configuration choices and a stronger note.
