The V8 made a return to the Falcon fold with the EB model, having been absent since 1984 in the XD. The 5.0L V8 Windsor motor was imported from the US, and made up to 175kw (depending on the model and specification), however this figure was restricted by the factory exhaust system, which ran as small as a single 2 1/4″ pipe! This meant the engine was restricted at high RPMs, and lacked low down torque and responsiveness.
While most AU Falcons ran Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), there were some models that retained the live axle suspension of the EA – EL models.
By fitting an upgraded Manta exhaust system, significant benefits can be experienced, including a throaty V8 exhaust note (with no drone), increased power and torque, and improved fuel economy.
The 2.5″ single exhaust is ideal as a budget replacement for your stock exhaust, while still giving some performance gains. The 3″ single exhaust system gives good increases in power and torque, while for the ultimate in sound and performance, the dual 2.5″ exhaust is the way to go!
